Just found this information. I had a vague memory of the word being different originally. "The fourth day of Christmas my true love sent to me Four Colly birds . . . (Now "Calling birds", but originally "Colly birds" = black birds., "Colly" means "black as coal" in old English, as in "colliery".)"
Sigh....you are full of questions today, aren't you!? To get out of the way of the 6 swans a swimming, 7 maids a milking, 8 geese a laying,.....etc! It was getting very crowded on the ground!
That is funny! The only thing funnier would have been if they photoshopped Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet's faces into it.
