The dawn sky had its angry eyes on this morning.

The sun rose
under the clouds over France.

In the afternoon, one of the Sandwich Bay
Short-Eared Owls was hunting between the scrape and the golf course, wafting over the scrub in search of prey.

Occasionally it came to rest on a post, then up it went again, silently quartering the ground, always looking down, swooping and turning effortlessly with its long wings.
Incredible dawn + Shortie = great start to the day.
ReplyDeleteExcept of course the owl was in the afternoon wasn't it? :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat SE Owl footage - missed the dramatic sunrise this morning!

What a beautiful bird, that must have been a treat to see. Thanks for sharing the video and photos. Great sunrise!
ReplyDeleteGreat video of the SEO. They show the flight pattern superbly. Perhaps I should get a new movie camera as well.......

What a sky! If that's France, it looks like someone dropped an A bomb on them! I'm so jealous of your owls! Some day I'm going to find one! Those are wonderful shots and the video shows their behavior so well.
ReplyDeleteWow..what a beautiful sky and owls.. what could be better than that...
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the Owls steve. I keep hoping one might stray onto my patch one day!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments, all.
ReplyDeleteThere's a nuclear power station over there on the French coast, along with much heavy industry. That's what we'll see if it all goes up.
Grim thought.
Nuclear power? No thanks.
Two great photo opportunities!! I always love a red sky and seldom get a chance to see an Owl. I only need one hand to count the sightings. Great pictures!
