Pernicious alien space invader

It's a pernicious alien space invader, but at this time of the year the broad swathes of Winter Heliotrope around the village are an uplifting sight.
The description - 'short patch-forming hairy perennial, regularly toothed, vanilla-fragrant' - could describe a number of people around here. The female has many broad rays.

There are few resident flowers blooming in the depths of winter, but this Bristly Oxtongue is one.

I make no excuse for another photograph of the wonderfully-sited Fairfield Church on Romney Marsh, dedicated to St Thomas-a-Becket.

Good to hear the good people of Kent are described that way, oops that was the plant :-) Scanned down your blog for a few days, good stuff on there, looks like you had a good 2008.

I think that heliotrope is pretty and the other looks like a dandelion. The church shot is magnificent! Such a view!
