Short-eared owl hunting

Standing around, waiting for owls, while mist gathered across Lydden Valley, and the setting sun gave way to frost.
Swans flew to their roost at the Scrape,a Woockcock was flushed, and when one Short-eared Owl appeared, quartering the fields, it was too dark for photographs.
So I'll have to resort to a picture taken by the redoubtable SteveR (the handsome one) earlier in the week:
...and one that I took three years ago, also on the Sandwich Bay estate.

Lovely pictures, I like the first one and the one with the mist over the field. I've never seen a short eared owl, but live in hope...

Local birders here in NY state are out looking for short-eared owls and snowy owls that are here which is unusual...Love the photos..

The sky shots are lovely...sorry you didn't get any owl shots, but the ones your friend took are great! I still long to see an owl...any owl.
